Drawing Fahrenheit Part 3
Week three of my look back at illustrating Fahrenheit as we walk forward into the reality of Ray Bradbury’s future.
Fahrenheit 451 has robot dogs that chase down the guilty, but the robot dogs I’ve seen on the news still seem to be the type that grab possible bombs and such. I have no doubt they will chase down people someday. Although, people are easier and easier to find now with all the cameras, phones and McDonalds workers in Altoona, PA looking for that quick buck.
Are you tired of seeing the first few pages of thumbnails?
It’s what I keep finding.
I probably did more thumbs for those pages than I did for others as I was just starting on the book and looking for a… Look.
If you have a big book to do, it’s good to pick a page half way through, figure out how it will look and then go back to the start.
As far as how the book looked. It’s look did not come out of the either. I made a sort of “mood board” made up of art to influence me. I’m not sure if that mood board is saved some place I haven’t found, but It included people like Rockwell Kent and old soviet posters.
These are just two small examples. I had hundreds of images to influence the look of the book.
In fact, I will look for them for next week.
I’m keeping it short this week due to some deadlines!
Read a book!
